Ships Ahoy

Its that time a year again when we take the waters of Long Island! This is my first weekend out East since last year and I'm psyched! I am all packed and ready to sail and have some Hamptons fun.

Since I have also become a chef in the last year ( haha) I have decided to test out a new recipe for Ribs, "how unusual Jackie, you don't even eat ribs"...well I think im going to try these! The recipe comes from Saveur which I have been borrowing from my parents office...hmm delicious! Recipe and past summers on boat below!

My hearts...

My mother, Aunt Barbara, cousin Alexandra and myself recently embarked on a much needed spa day. We started out at Bliss in Soho. I love Bliss because I love catherine ( the woman who does my facials) and i love the location for group outings, but other than that, this one in particular is rather small. However, it totally did the job. We all had a treatment ( Dew Diligence facials, seaweed masks and Blissage) relaxed in the waiting room together and then headed to Dos Caminos on W. Broadway for lunch...yum! Some tacos, guacamole and margaritas later ( love thier frozen prickly pear) we were right back in our element...shopping...that's right I did not magically become a shopper. These woman paved the way for me!

We hit up the soho street vendors, all the favorites and then of course, TopShop. So much fun! What is better than spending the day with the woman you love most! xo

Theor-ies Hearts Ellie

Enter Ellie Krieger into my world...I am in love.

Ellie Krieger, the heart healthy chef on the food network has captured my heart. She can turn any fresh veggie, fish, poultry into the most amazingly delicious meal without using all the normal stimulants,ie butter & breadcrumbs

I have always enjoyed cooking, however, I have struggled to cook different recipes than what I have learned over the years. I would get so frustrated because chicken cutlets, cacciatores and stuffed peppers are not exactly what makes a healthy meal Monday-Friday, but always what I turn to when deciding to whip up something scrumptious. After trying different recipes from various cookbooks, improvising on the recipes I already know and calling my brother a million times,I have come to the conclusion that Ellie Krieger is my new food guru.

Ellie has a way of telling you how to eat smart, healthy and fresh without resorting to crash diet theories or weird hippy crunchiness. Check out her bio and recipes on the food network and get cookin! http://www.foodnetwork.com/ellie-krieger/bio/index.html

Brighten Up

I am feeling totally uplifted in this dreary weather by the Neon in my life. Granted, I am not one to wear neon leggings, eye make up or anything too In-Your-Face- but my toes are neon pink and I feel totally excited about it...pic attached!

You too can add a little neon to your ensemble through accessories or just having it in the back-drop! Here's some inspiration without being too TopShop over the top!
